DFL club statutes

The DFL is open to any aircooled Type 1, 2 or 3 Volkswagen built to traditional California Look.

The engine must be Type 1 based and either normally aspirated or fitted with a period supercharger.

The car must be no later than a 1973 model.

The DFL is not an incorporated society, but a loose association of enthusiasts and friends. No membership fee is payable.

To maintain membership, all members should attend a minimum of three VW events per year together.

The "Look" of a member's car should meet the following criteria:

  • Quality: The overall quality should not be below the mark "C".
  • Paintjob: The color should be stock or available in either the 60's to 70's.
  • Lowering: Nose down, traditional Cal Look at the front. Rear end should remain stock.
  • Wheels: Original wheels from the 1960's or 1970's (like BRM, Empi, DDS, Rader, etc.). Reproductions of period wheels are fine as are early Porsche alloys (Fuchs, Pedrini, Mahle).
  • Tires: The tires have to fit under the stock fenders.
  • Body changes: Except top chops, dechroming jobs, one-piece windows and modified dashboards, no changes are allowed.
  • Accessories: As few accessories as possible. No roofracks or rear end-racks, whitewall tires or too many chrome parts.

Every candidate for membership has to complete a probation period.

Every new member has to be accepted by 100% of the other members.
